What Else Happened in 2004

As Tampa Bay Lightning won the Stanley Cup for the first time since 2004, here’s what else happened in 2004:

  • George Bush was still the president
  • The Summer Olympics was held in Athens, Greece
  • We had DirecTV for a while until we switch back to Time Warner Cable
  • Kids Pick the President got their first incorrect answer as they vote John Kerry over George W. Bush
  • NBC, CBS and ABC were still airing local news during the split screen credits
  • The New England Patriots won Super Bowl XXXVIII
  • Ryan Seacrest takes over as the host of American Top 40 replacing Casey Kasem who left the week before
  • The Incredibles, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, The Spongebob Squarepants Movie, Shark Tale, Spider-Man 2, Meet the Fockers, National Treasure, The Polar Express, The Day After Tomorrow, Home on the Range, Ocean’s Twelve and Shrek 2 were released in theaters
  • CSI, Law & Order, E.R., CSI: Miami, Two and a Half Men, The King of Queens, George Lopez, Cold Case and Will & Grace were still airing new episodes
  • The Detroit Pistons won the NBA Finals
  • Friends and Frasier concluded their run
  • Everybody Loves Raymond began airing its last season
  • The Nintendo DS was released
  • WrestleMania XX was held at Madison Square Garden in New York City
  • The Boston Red Sox won the World Series and breaks the Curse of the Bambino
  • Gmail was launched
  • This was arguably the best NFL quarterback draft class year — Eli Manning, Phillip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger, J.P. Losman & Matt Schaub
  • We had no grand prize winners at all this year on Wheel of Fortune (this would not happen again until 2017 & 2019)

That is all of what’s happening in 2004. I hope you liked it.
