New Section Added to the Site

Y’know how there’s a section called Vintage Reviews? Well, I decided to add another section called First Impressions (keep in mind that the site DOES say Music, Movies, Games and More; most of this site’s on gameshows). This section is to express any thoughts on anything that’s new (aside from new episodes of game shows) or you’re experiencing this for the first time. Here’s a couple of posts that I’ll be doing on this section for now:

My dad’s 2017 Mercedes-Benz C300.

NordicTrack C700 treadmill.

As for entertainment, I’ll do one for the season 2 premiere of Amphibia (season 1’s on Disney+ if you wanna catch up) w/ the episodes “Handy Anne” & “Fort in the Road” (7/11 at 8:20 PM ET on Disney Channel). I’ll also do one for Close Enough if I can successfully convince my dad to get HBO Max (That show’s created by Regular Show’s J.G. Quintel. Based on the trailers, this show looks like it’s right up my alley.).

Reminder on the Remaining LMAD Air Dates & The Future of TPIR

Here’s a reminder on the remaining LMAD air dates:

  • Tuesday, June 16
  • Friday, June 19
  • Wednesday, June 24
  • Friday, July 10
  • Monday, July 13

The stats of these remaining five shows will be added together for the final season stats. We will NOT be doing any weekly stats anytime between these air dates.

As for TPIR, the current season has most likely been wrapped up. One more episode was listed to air on July 6th on the official TPIR schedule, but we weren’t sure since we were convinced that 6/2 was the finale. But after taking a closer look at it, the episode in question was the preempted 12/9 episode that aired on 3/20, & the official TPIR site mistakenly listed it to air on 7/6 & not 3/20. But then it was changed to the 3/17 episode which was never aired on some markets. My local listings show the 1/20 episode airing on 7/6, and it was mistakenly labeled as “New.” BEST/WORST Moments of S48 of TPIR coming July 6th.

One more reminder, no TPIR 4th of July special will happen this year due to COVID-19.

First Impressions: Handy Anne/Fort In the Road (Amphibia)

Original Airdate: July 11, 2020 (Disney Channel)

Starring: Brenda Song, Justin Felbinger, Bill Farmer

After a year of waiting and suffering, Amphibia is BACK with new episodes Saturdays at 8:20 PM ET on Disney Channel! And this season’s gonna be great, because this show is going…

…whoops, wrong show. 😛

Anyway, this show is hitting the road! As we all know, this season will have Anne and the Plantar Family (Hop Pop, Sprig, Polly (Amanda Leighton)) travel in the F-Wagon (carried by Bessie the snail) to Newtopia where Anne will find a way home and hopefully reunite with her old friend, Marcy.

(As expected, this review will contain spoilers. I’d advise you to turn away right now if you wish not to get spoiled.)

Heads up on an upcoming WOF Saturday Rerun…

I meant to post this yesterday, but the Season 36 WOF episode being reran on August 1st is Day 1 of Girlfriend Getaways week (Adam Alam’s theme week — he recapped that entire week for Andy) that originally aired February 25th (his first official recap on Andynwof’s site & one day before his birthday).

On this day, after ten consecutive Sat. reruns ending w/ a BR loss since May 23rd… THE SATURDAY BR LOSING STREAK WILL FINALLY END HERE!!!

Sarah Denby & Jessica Finz absolutely dominated racking up $31,850 cash & Antigua before heading to Bonusland (that included $12,700 from R5, which was a partial $6K speedup)… …and then they plucked some WILD DAFFODILS for $36K & left w/ $67,150 cash & trips!

Some Kind of Review: Reunion (Amphibia)

I didn’t put this in Vintage Reviews since this came out after this site was created nor did I put this in First Impressions since I’ve watched this THREE times already.

Original Airdate: July 18, 2019 (Disney Channel)

Starring: Brenda Song, Justin Felbinger, Bill Farmer, Anna Akana

Amphibia has got to be one of my favorite TV shows in recent years. It features a whole cast of loveable characters, there’s a sense of wonder in it, and there’s also a huge mystery element that carries the show as well. The show’s first season has Anne Boonchuy (Brenda Song) bunking in with the Plantar family after she and 2 other friends (Sasha (Anna Akana) and Marcy) get transported into a magical frog world called Amphibia. During her time there, she grows to be a well-respected citizen in Wartwood.

If there was any episode that cemented my opinion as one of the best TV shows recently, this would be it. It packs so much into one 22-minute package (most of the episodes are 11-minutes long; this episode is split into 3 segments) and the payoff is simply incredible.

First Impressions: Ring Fit Adventure

Release Date: October 18, 2019
Platform: Nintendo Switch
Rating: E10+ (Fantasy Violence)

Wait, a video game that counts as exercise?! Blasphemy! Anyway, Ring Fit Adventure is an RPG game for the Switch that also counts as an exercising game. You have a Pilates ring with a slot to attach your right Joy Con and a leg strap holding your left Joy Con. That’s the setup. You can also customize your adventure character w/ gender, skin & eye color. The ring in the game could also customized between male and female (I chose the latter.). I’ve heard that there’s voice acting this game, but I hardly figured how to make it work.

So, when you start the story mode, you have to put in all of your personal health info such as age, weight & how often you’ve been exercising for. The game plays like a typical RPG, but you have to get your body moving. You can customize your workout settings on how intense you want it to be (I chose moderate — definitely a workout for the 10 minutes that I did completing world 1.). The world map also plays like a typical New Super Mario Bros one where you can go back several worlds and look at new worlds you just unlocked.

The controls are pretty confusing at first, but once you get the hang of them, it’s quite exhilarating. You can use the push and the pull of the ring to do many wonderous things and when you battle w/ enemies, there’s many sets of exercises that you have to do to defeat them (you can choose whatever you want).

Also, before and after playing the main adventure mode, there’s a warmup & a cooldown to make sure that you’re body is not sore — that’s a rather smart thing to implement.

There’s many more minigames from rhythm to little exercise reps aside from the main game, which should serve as great post-story modes.

Overall, if you have a Nintendo Switch & can’t go to the gym, then this game’s for you. It’s quite invigorating & expansive. Is it my favorite Switch game? No. That honor would go to Animal Crossing: New Horizons (something which I have yet to get back to). Is it quite fun? Yes.

(This game’s unplayable on the Switch Lite for obvious reasons.)

9/10 (Commendable)

Vintage Movie Review: Space Jam

Hi, everyone. I am now getting ready to review my next movie. I am about to review Space Jam. For those who haven’t seen the movie, you might have to turn away since it will contain spoilers. Without any further ado, let’s start my review. Space Jam is about basketball player Michael Jordan who announces his retirement from basketball and becoming a baseball player. The owner of Moron Mountain, Mr. Swackhammer, sends his minions, the Nerdlucks, to abduct the Looney Tunes as a new attraction. When they arrived, Bugs Bunny and the rest of the Looney Tunes take advantage them to a basketball game. Through a cursory course on the definition of basketball, the Nerdlucks learn that the sport’s best players are employed by the NBA, and accept the proposal. When they steal talents from Charles Barkley, Muggsy Bogues, Patrick Ewing, Larry Johnson and Shawn Bradley, they transform themselves into the large, muscular and talented Monstars, which prompts Bugs to seek professional aid. While golfing with Larry Bird and Bill Murray and his assistant, Stan Podolak, Jordan was completely sucked down a golf hole and into the Looney Tunes’ world. Bugs explains the situation to Jordan, whom hope is placed on as one of the best basketball players in the world. Although Jordan is initially reluctant, he agrees to play after a confrontation with the Monstars insults his pride, and organizes the Looney Tunes into a team, the “Tune Squad”. Jordan sends Bugs and Daffy back to his house to obtain his basketball gear, where Stan sees them and follows them back to the cartoon world, and Michael reluctantly agrees to let him help. Meanwhile, the sudden incapacity of the five NBA players leads to worldwide panic that results in the NBA season ending early which is not true since it is returning by the end of this month. They try to restore their skills through practice, hospitalization, therapy and prayer, but to no avail. On the day of the match, the Monstars dominate the first half, sinking the Tune Squad’s morale. Stan overhears about how the Monstars obtained their talent and informs Jordan. Bugs and Jordan rally the Tune Squad and dominate the third quarter using old-school gags and Acme as weapons. During a timeout, Jordan raises the stakes with Swackhammer: a win by the Tune Squad would require the Monstars returning their stolen talents while a win by the Monstars would earn Swackhammer Jordan as a new attraction for his amusement park. With ten seconds left in the game, the Tune Squad are down by one point, and one player, due to most of them being injured (especially Stan) from the Monstars’ rough playing. Bill Murray unexpectedly arrives, and is recruited to fill the spot. In the final seconds, Jordan gains the ball with Murray’s help, but is pulled back by the Monstars. Remembering advice from Bugs, he uses cartoon physics to extend his arm and dunk the ball, winning the match. Seeing the Monstars being reprimanded by Swackhammer, Jordan helps them realize that they only listened to him because they were smaller. The Monstars encase Swackhammer in a missile and send him back to his amusement park. Giving up their stolen talent, the Nerdlucks are recruited into the Looney Tunes ensemble and drop off Jordan at his next baseball game. Later, Jordan visits the incapacitated basketball players and returns their talent, to which the players provoke a reluctant Jordan into participating in a three-on-three match. Two years later in 1995, Jordan returns to the Chicago Bulls to resume his basketball career. For Space Jam, I would say I remember seeing it a child although I am a Spurs fan. I remember that the movie was recorded on a blank VHS tape recording over the February 1997 episode of Sábado Gigante. I think the movie was recorded on pay-per-view since I was a baby at the time. Space Jam is a great movie. I cannot wait for their new movie in 2021. That is my review for Space Jam. I hope you enjoyed my review.
