The Price is Right BEST/WORST Moments of Season 48

You can look at the final stats here for a refresher.

Best

  • Michael on the 10/14 Big Money Week episode won $202,000 in Plinko then went on to win the showcase & BECAME THE NEW ALL-TIME PRICING KING W/ $262,743!! Let’s not forget about another Michael winning $134,234 on the Best of ’19 New Year’s Eve special & Monique who was the only dream car winner on the not-so-dreamy Dream Car week w/ $109,568 cash & prizes.
  • We managed to pick up 3 DOUBLE SHOWCASE WINS this season after going all of last season without one (9/23 (S.P.), 1/6 & 3/25)
  • We have managed to go the entire season without a PG skunking.
  • Darlene on the 5/21 episode (Ismael’s birthday) showed us all what she was made of & was awarded as BEST CONTESTANT OF THE SEASON as far as gameplay goes.
  • Week of 12/23 had a season-high 24 PGs won incl. the TPIR at Night specials & a car sweep also included.
  • Joshua on the 12/10 episode had a huge redemption winning $26,000 on the Big Wheel & ultimately won the showcase w/ a final total of $59,418 cash & prizes.
  • Pathfinder’s losing streak was finally snapped on 6/1 thanks to Victoria Rudolph’s skillful playing of the game.
  • Near-perfect shows on both the daytime 5/11 episode & the TPIR At Night episode.
  • This season’s awesome Kids Week went way better than last season’s trainwreck & all four episodes went 5-for-6 on PGs.
  • In relation to the length of the season the stats remained mostly the same from last season.

Worst

  • Just like Jeopardy! this season was cut short due to COVID-19.
  • No 4th of July special for the same reason above.
  • Mother’s Day Special was also cancelled for that.
  • And so was the college students episode of Kids Week.
  • The week of 2/4 was awarded as the WORST WEEK OF THE SEASON w/ TWO DOUBLE OVERS.
  • Gilbert on the 5/19 episode absolutely embarrassed himself on Now or Then & was given the award for WORST CONTESTANT OF THE SEASON by me.
  • Two weekly car shutouts (Wk. of 12/30 & Wk. of 2/10)
  • An all-overbid occurred on the final IFUB of the 5/15 episode.
  • Trainwreck playing for much of the 5/12 episode where contestants lost easy pricing games.
  • Pre-emptions plagued the early portion of the season.
  • Gridlock had its first wipeout on a premiere episode since the 24th premiere.
  • Any contestant saying “false” four times in a row in Five Price Tags.
  • Elizabeth on the 4/16 episode made two dud spins during the SCSD.
  • Casey did the same thing as Elizabeth on 10/28.
  • We almost had a PG skunking on 4/10 as Hot Seat had a heartbreaking $5,000 bailout.
  • On 12/30 Plinko suffered its worst playing since 2013.
  • Cover Up had its first wipeout on 12/17 since 12/20/2012.
  • 3 STRIKES on 12/18 had its worst playing since 2013.
  • Bonus Game on 3/5 had its first wipeout since 1/19/2016.
  • Sandra on 11/18 was the lowest-scoring Showcase winner w/ $22,474.
  • Nightmare Halloween special (worst one since 2011) with a TOTAL TRAINWRECK playing of Gas Money, only two PGs won & a skunked first half, two FFBC victims & a loser won the showcase w/ a pathetic $23,301.
  • Five unfortunate FFBC victims on the week of 4/13.
  • Lackluster Dream Car week w/ only one dream car won.
  • Painful $100K loss on the 9/30 episode.
  • Two wipeouts on the 4/28 episode (2 for the Price of 1 & Pathfinder (On the bright side, if it was Cover Up, you should’ve won)).
  • Not-so-good of a TPIR & LMAD Mash-Up week.

And that’s it for BEST/WORST Moments of S48 of TPIR. More suggestions on anything I missed are welcome.

Some more bad news…

Right now they are re-airing that flop of a TPIR Halloween special with a TOTAL TRAINWRECK playing of Gas Money, only two PGs won & a skunked first half, two FFBC victims & a loser won the showcase w/ a pathetic $23,301.

And on July 11th, Wheel of Fortune is re-airing an episode w/ a TOSSUP TRIPLE STUMPER (only such one of S36) + a TRAINWRECK Round 2, with only an expensive Prize Puzzle trip saving this episode from complete disaster. And this episode was the last of that record losing streak.

Reminder on the Remaining LMAD Air Dates & The Future of TPIR

Here’s a reminder on the remaining LMAD air dates:

  • Tuesday, June 16
  • Friday, June 19
  • Wednesday, June 24
  • Friday, July 10
  • Monday, July 13
  • Dealy Awards episode on a date yet to be determined (this might go to waste)

The stats of these remaining six shows will be added together for the final season stats. We will NOT be doing any weekly stats anytime between these air dates.

As for TPIR, the current season has most likely been wrapped up. One more episode was listed to air on July 6th on the official TPIR schedule, but we weren’t sure since we were convinced that 6/2 was the finale. But after taking a closer look at it, the episode in question was the preempted 12/9 episode that aired on 3/20, & the official TPIR site mistakenly listed it to air on 7/6 & not 3/20. But then it was changed to the 3/17 episode which was never aired on some markets. My local listings show the 1/20 episode airing on 7/6, and it was mistakenly labeled as “New.” BEST/WORST Moments of S48 of TPIR coming July 6th.

One more reminder, no TPIR 4th of July special will happen this year due to COVID-19.

The Price is Right UNINTENDED FINAL Season 48 Stats

This week’s stats are made up of only two episodes. We’re not sure, but there may be one more episode that could air on July 6th maybe possibly more. Oh, and no 4th of July special this year due to Covid.

And again, I must put this out there: I DON’T WANT ANY IDIOTS CHANGING DOUBLE OVERS INTO TECHNICAL DOUBLE SHOWCASE WINS. Any violators will be SEVERELY PUNISHED. IS THAT CLEAR?!?! 😡 😡 😡

Some improvements over last season here & there, especially in the DSW department, but also some downward trends although due to a shortened season. If that last episode scheduled to air on 7/6 does in fact air, & if there’s anymore episodes to air besides that, then hopefully we can close things out w/ a bang. Otherwise, BEST/WORST Moments of S48 of TPIR will be posted by that time either way, & if there is a S48 episode airing after 7/6 we will update the post & make updated versions of the Final Season stats.
