Sixth Surfin’ Safari Episode Likely Won’t Air on the Week of May 25th

This just in from dannymargulis:

“UPDATE: Robert just said on Buy a Vowel that they likely won’t air the Surfin’ Safari sixth episode during the week of May 25, since four of the episodes that week are reruns, meaning said episode will likely not air until Wheel resumes production. Listings still show Season 37 Bed & Breakfast reruns every day that week, so I think it’s safe to say that the stats for the week of April 27 (GAC: San Francisco) are the final Season 37 Stats.”

With that said, the week of April 27th was most likely the finale wk. of S37 of WHEEL, & if that stands true then Season 37 will have joined Season 21 as the other season to have no grand prize winner at all. Then again, in both those seasons, we had $100K+ wins the hard way, & at least this presumed finale week wasn’t a skunk, but just like any finale week before it, it wasn’t that great.

And yes, new Jeopardy! episodes will resume on the week of May 18th.

Contestant of the Week for May 11-15, 2020

Catherine O’Hara (Upward Bound House) is this week’s Contestant of the Week, winning the most money of any celebrity contestant so far on this new iteration of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, walking w/ $250,000….. although she would’ve been right had she took the risk for the answer.

Honorable Mentions: Toneisha joins Micah, Artis, CammWess & Todd as the last Finalist of this season of the Voice; We may have had 4 out of 6 (incl. primetime show) PG winners win the showcase on TPIR, but this week was awful… although in both the Monday shows.. Brady on the daytime show & Robert on the primetime show.. hold the top two totals this week w/ the latter being this week’s Pricing Champ, & the Monday shows turned out to have prevented complete disaster this week unlike sister show LMAD.

Note on This Week’s Jeopardy! & WHEEL Reruns

My rerun schedule is a day behind because Monday’s J! & WOF reruns were preempted on my station for a Robin Hood Relief Benefit special hosted by Tina Fey w/ Chris Rock, Jimmy Fallon, Michael Straham, Eli Manning, Jennifer Lopez, David Chang, Barbara Streisand, Robert de Niro, Ben Platt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Bette Midler & Idina Menzel among those participating from their homes.

Oh, and by the way, the random decision to pull the 10/2/18 episode & replace it w/ the 4/8/19 episode turned a 1-4 week into a skunk week.

UPDATE 5/17: The Sat. rerun for Wheel was moved to 1pm eastern yesterday while the Sat. rerun for Jeopardy! was moved to 2pm eastern today, w/ the reruns intended for Friday taking over the Sat. 7pm & 7:30pm eastern time slots. Jodi’s interview was preempted for a brief NJ conference, but I did not catch the conference.

OBIT: Little Richard

Richard Wayne Penniman aka Little Richard, a founding pioneer of Rock & Roll who’s famous for the songs “Tutti Frutti”, “Good Golly” and “Long Tall Sally” (the first two songs appeared as puzzles before) passed away yesterday from bone cancer at the age of 87.

He appeared on WHEEL in May 1994 as part of “Music Stars Week” & he was behind the theme song of “The Magic School Bus.”

Rest in Peace, Little Richard 💔

Thoughts & prayers go out to his loved ones 🙏🏻

I shouldn’t have to keep saying this: NO DECLARING TECHNICAL REVIVALS!! 😡 😡

This Week’s Contestant of the Week for May 4-8, 2020

Sonrob who became the champion of Season 6 of Spring Baking Championship & won the $25,000 prize is this week’s Contestant of the Week.

Honorable Mentions: Katie is this week’s TPIR Pricing Champion having won $53,300 cash & prizes; Desiree from LMAD who turned out to have prevented a weekly car skunking; Owen (9-10), Jack (11-12) & Vance (13-14) are semifinalists in each of their age groups in American Ninja Warrior Junior.
